I was born in Cleveland,OH, the oldest of 3 daughters. My father was a tailor and my mother a “stay at home” mom. I always say I lived in Leave it to Beaver’s home because our growing up was lot like that, but with a lot less money.
I am a first generation American. My father was born in Czechoslovakia and my mother was all American and worked hard at Americanizing my father.
We moved several times as my father changed jobs and moved to Huntington when I was in high school. My husband, Mark and I were high school sweethearts. We went to University of Missouri together. After we were married, we lived in Louisville for a few years where I got my Masters in Special Education.
We have 2 grown children. Laura, 29, is a newly wed who lives in St. Louis and is also in Early Childhood. Scott, 31, lives in Columbus and is getting married this summer. He is in sales like his dad.
I always wanted to be a first grade teacher, but I only did that for 1 year. After that I taught special education, owned a gift shop, which was part of our family business(Victor’s) and was a substitute for Cabell County Schools before I began working at RVCDS. I was the director of Norma Gray Early Learning Center for 9 years and have been the ACDS State Coordinator for 7 years.
I love to travel, read, and shop and spend time with my family and friends.
